What is VLT?

VLT(Visible Light Transmission) is the light percentage allowed by the window tint film to travel through your car windows. In Oklahoma, there are different legal allowable terms when it comes to window tinting.

In Oklahoma, the amount of light allowed to pass through your film and also glass varies for Passenger vehicles and Multi-purpose vehicles. Let us break it down for you so you understand it better.

The higher the VLT the more amounts of light will be allowed to pass through your window tint film. For instancea 60% tint will allow only 60% of the light to pass through whereas a 7% tint will allow only 7% of the light to pass through.

  • Front Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line or top 5 inches.
  • Front seat side windows: up to 25% tint darkness allowed
  • Back seat side windows: up to 25% tint darkness allowed
  • Rear window: up to 25% tint darkness allowed
  • Front Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line or top 5 inches.
  • Front seat side windows: up to 25% tint darkness allowed
  • Back seat side windows: Any tint darkness can be used
  • Rear window: Any tint darkness can be used 

Tint reflection

The state tint laws of Oklahoma allow only a certain window reflection when it comes to using a tint. The window tints can reflect incoming light. They can also reduce really good proportions of glare and heat coming in through your car windows. 

Tint reflection: Passenger Vehicles 

  • Front side windows: must not be more than 25% reflective 
  • Back side windows: must not be more than 25% reflective

  • Back side windows: must not be more than 25% reflective.

  • Is 5 Tint legal in Oklahoma? No, 5% tint is not legal in Oklahoma. The tint laws in Oklahoma only allow upto 25% window tint. Anything below that will get you in trouble.
